Class is held once a week.

CSA approved helmets are mandatory. No bicycle helmets permitted.

This program is intended for beginners. Each skater is placed in a group and receives instruction and supervision from a professional coach as well as qualified program assistants. Skaters progress at their own rate, and upon completion of this course, the skater will proceed to the Canskate or Pre-Power level.

PRE-POWER SKATE

CSA approved helmets and hockey skates are mandatory.

This program is intended for children 4 years and up who want to learn to skate with a hockey focus. Improve your hockey skater's technique, power, speed and agility with our certified CanPower Coach. Skaters must be able to get up on their own and skate forward the length of the ice. One and two day options are available.

POWER SKATE

Full hockey equipment including stick required.

This program builds on the skills learned in Pre-Power for skater who want to further develop their hockey technique, power, speed and agility with our certified CanPower Coach. Skaters must be able to skate forward the length of the ice using alternating strides, backward the width of the ice using alternating strides and be able to stop without hitting the boards.. One and two day options are available.

SYNCHRONIZED SKATING

Youth Synchronized Skating: This program is available to skaters under the age of 18 (subject to sufficient numbers). Practices will be weekly on Sundays, time to be determined. All Youth team skaters are encouraged to skate in a regular skating program at least one additional day per week. Skaters are required to be Canskate Stage 4 or higher before skating Synchro. All club programs Star 1 and up require 2 days of skating minimum. Star 1 skaters may have Synchronized skating may count as one of those days, however Synchro encourages all skaters to continue to grow and skate their regular programs twice a week as well as one day of Synchro if possible. Competitions will be determined based on the progress of the team. This will entirely depend on the number of skaters interested and the level of their skating abilities. Coach of the Youth Synchronized Skating program is Ty Lickers. Yearly registration fees will be determined by the number of skaters who participate. Synchronized Skating Form 2016-2017

CANSKATE

Children skate once, twice or three times per week.

As mandated by Skate Canada, CSA approved helmets must be worn by skaters in levels 1-5.
Bicycle Helmets are not allowed.
 Level 6 exempt (green skate ribbon).

This program is intended for skaters aged 5 or older as of December 31 and who have not passed Stage 6 in the Canskate program. Skaters are placed in groups according to their ability. Group instruction and supervision is provided by professional coaches and qualified program assistants. 

One-on-one instruction enables your child to progress faster through the CanSkate badges.

STAR 1

Class is held up to 4 times a week.

This program is intended for skaters who have passed Stage 6 of the CanSkate program. Skaters are placed in groups according to ability. Group instruction and supervision is provided by professional coaches and qualified program assistants.

Skaters will learn edges, freeskate, stroking and dance.

A private lesson coach is strongly recommended at this level to prepare for entrance into our Star 2 Program.

Skate Canada Alumni One-Day Program

For post-secondary school students. If not a BSC skater, must provide proof of registration in other Skate Canada club. 

Ice Fee: $400.00 for season (no discounts can be applied)

Affiliate Membership

Includes Alumni and Judges/Officials. Allows members to designate BSC as home club. Member may Guest Skate subject to Guest Skating Rules. Member has no voting privileges. We have now added an option to skate one day a week for Alumni and Synchro Skaters.  Please open the following link for more information.

ICE LOSSES

From time to time throughout our skating season, the City of Brantford Parks and Recreation Department may require Lion's Park. Lost ice dates are posted in Calendar.

There is no skating Thanksgiving Day - October 10th.

CHRISTMAS

Skating fees have been adjusted to compensate for lost ice.
